As the re enacting community evolves standards grow increasingly stringent. We need to keep pace in order to be excepted at any event.
We are striving for a generic mid war impression of a Kentucky cavalry trooper.These are guidelines to get us there. It is not to say that other items beside those listed are not exceptable,but should be inquired about and documented before purchasing.
If you wish to have an early or late war impression we suggest you add them AFTER you get the mid war impression completed.

Here is a CLASSIC example of what is known as a farb.Even among other farbs. If ANY of your gear appears in this picture,sell it or better yet, burn it!

Jacket

1) Plain grey wool shell jacket. Good basic choice

2) Jean wool, grey or tan shell jacket

3) Frock coat,civilian or military
*Note-These can be extra hot on warm days!

Here is an example of an early war trooper.Note militia jacket and DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. In contrast to the picture above, you will note he has NO revolvers.Also of note is his sling for the shotgun.

Trowsers

1. Federal sky blue, either mounted or infantry
*Note- The reason we suggest these as your first
trowser purchase is this,you can use them both
Confederate and Union.

2. Confedrate issue NON MOUNTED pattern, There were very
few if any mounted pattern trousers ever issued by the
CSA

3.Period civilian patterns in a period color.
